Tasting Notes
The aroma is faint, with light grain and a mild sweetness that doesn't demand much attention. On the palate, flavors are restrained — soft corn, pale malt, and a very subtle hop bitterness that fades quickly. The body is light and thin, with high carbonation that keeps it lively without adding weight. The finish is clean and short, leaving almost nothing behind.
About the Brewery
Corona Extra is produced by Grupo Modelo, a Mexican brewing company founded in 1925 and headquartered in Mexico City. Modelo was acquired by AB InBev in 2013, though in the United States the Corona brand is licensed to Constellation Brands. Corona Extra is one of the best-selling imported beers in the U.S. market and is closely associated with its signature clear bottle and the widely adopted practice of serving it with a lime wedge.
Food Pairings
Light fish tacos pair well because the beer's neutrality doesn't compete with delicate white fish and fresh toppings. Ceviche works for the same reason — mild acidity in the dish finds little friction here. Grilled chicken with citrus marinade echoes the lime typically served alongside the beer. Salty snacks like chips and guacamole benefit from the high carbonation, which scrubs the palate between bites.
Style Guide
American Adjunct Lagers are brewed with a significant proportion of non-malt adjuncts — typically corn or rice — alongside barley malt, which lightens both the body and the flavor profile compared to all-malt lagers. The style originated as large American breweries in the 19th and 20th centuries sought to produce approachable, consistent beer at scale. Bitterness is low, malt character is subdued, and the overall impression is intentionally neutral. It sits in the same broad family as international pale lagers but is specifically tied to North American mass-market brewing traditions.
