Tasting Notes

The aroma leads with citrus peel and pine resin, backed by a faint grassy note that suggests a solid Pacific Northwest hop bill. On the palate, grapefruit and light tropical fruit come forward before a firm, resinous bitterness takes hold in the mid-sip. The body is medium and dry enough to keep the hops front and center without turning cloying. The finish is moderately bitter and clean, fading with a mild earthiness.

About the Brewery

Fremont Brewing is based in Seattle, Washington, founded in 2009, and has grown into one of the more prominent craft operations in the Pacific Northwest. They're particularly well regarded for their Barrel Aged Dark Star imperial oatmeal stout and for a broad year-round lineup that leans heavily on hop-forward styles. Their taproom presence in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood has made them a consistent fixture in that city's craft beer scene.

It diverged from its English IPA ancestor by dialing up both the hop intensity and the dryness of the finish, and it became the flagship style of the American craft beer movement starting in the 1980s and 1990s.
