Tasting Notes
Lonely Blonde pours with a light grainy sweetness on the nose, backed by faint floral or mild noble-hop character. On the palate, it's gently malty with a soft biscuit note and low bitterness that stays out of the way. The body is light to medium, keeping things approachable without thinning out entirely. The finish is clean and brief, with little aftertaste — exactly what the style is built to deliver.
About the Brewery
Fulton Beer is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and has been operating since around 2009, making it one of the earlier craft players in the Twin Cities scene. They're known for anchoring their lineup with approachable, well-made staples alongside rotating seasonal and specialty offerings. Lonely Blonde has long been one of their flagship beers, and Fulton maintains solid distribution across the Midwest.
Food Pairings
A light-bodied blonde like this works well alongside fish tacos, where the low bitterness won't fight the delicate white fish or lime. Grilled chicken with herb seasoning is a natural fit because the beer's soft malt character mirrors rather than overwhelms the food. Mild cheeses like Havarti or Muenster pair well since the beer won't overpower their gentle creaminess. A simple green salad with vinaigrette is a decent match too, as the beer's clean finish resets the palate between bites.
Style Guide
American Blonde Ale is a light, approachable style built around balance — low hop bitterness, soft malt sweetness, and a clean fermentation character with none of the fruity esters typical of British ales. ABV generally runs between 4% and 5.5%, keeping it on the session-friendly end of the spectrum. It developed in American craft brewing partly as a gateway offering, sitting between mass-market lagers and more assertive pale ales. What distinguishes it from an American pale ale is its deliberate restraint — less hop presence, lighter body, and an emphasis on drinkability over any single dominant flavor.
