Tasting Notes

The aroma is gently grainy with soft bread dough and a faint floral hop note from Hallertau hops. On the palate it's malt-forward — soft, bready sweetness with just enough bitterness to keep it from feeling flat. The body is light-to-medium with a smooth, well-attenuated finish that doesn't linger long. Clean fermentation character throughout, with none of the fruity esters you'd find in an ale of similar weight.

About the Brewery

Weihenstephan operates out of Freising, Bavaria, and its origins trace back to a monastery brewery documented as early as 1040, making it widely recognized as the oldest continuously operating brewery in the world. It functions today as both a commercial brewery and the brewing faculty of the Technical University of Munich. The brewery is known for its Bavarian lagers and wheat beers, and its yeast strains are used as reference cultures by brewers and labs globally.
