Northern France's farmhouse "beer for keeping," traditionally brewed in the cool months and cellared. Maltier and rounder than its Belgian cousin saison — toasty and toffee-touched, often with a soft, cellar-like earthiness — in blond, amber, and brown versions. Usually 6–8.5%.
