Tasting Notes
The aroma leads with a dense cloud of tropical and citrus — mango, pineapple, tangerine, and a faint resinous undercurrent from the dry-hop load. On the palate it's full and pillowy, with hop flavor that saturates the mid-palate without sharp bitterness cutting through. The finish is soft and slightly sweet, leaving behind stone fruit and a whisper of pine. Haze is thick, and the body leans heavier than many NEIPAs, which is characteristic of Other Half's house style.
About the Brewery
Other Half Brewing is based in Brooklyn, New York, with additional locations opened across the East Coast after their original Carroll Gardens taproom became a destination spot. Founded in 2014, they built their reputation almost entirely on hop-forward beers — NEIPAs, DIPAs, and heavily dry-hopped pale ales — and developed a cult following around their frequent small-batch releases. Their Green series, including Green Diamonds, is among the most recognized recurring lineups in the hazy IPA world.
Food Pairings
Spicy Thai curry works well here because the beer's residual sweetness tempers the heat without suppressing the dish's aromatics. A mango or pineapple-based salsa with grilled chicken echoes the tropical hop character and keeps neither component from overwhelming the other. Soft, ripe cheese like Brie or Camembert pairs naturally because the fat cuts the hop resin and the creaminess mirrors the beer's body. Fish tacos with lime crema offer a bright, acidic contrast that sharpens the beer's fruitier edges without clashing.
Style Guide
New England IPA, sometimes called hazy IPA, is defined by intentional haze from high-protein grain bills and heavy late or dry-hop additions, which push intense tropical and citrus aroma while keeping bitterness low. The style emerged from Vermont breweries in the early 2010s — most often traced to The Alchemist and Heady Topper — before spreading rapidly across the American craft scene. What separates it from West Coast IPA is the soft, pillowy body, the muted bitterness, and the emphasis on raw hop flavor and aroma over structural dryness. ABV typically runs from 6% to 8%, though double versions push well above that.
