Tasting Notes
Congress Street pours with an intensely aromatic nose dominated by tropical fruit — ripe mango, passionfruit, and citrus zest with a soft undercurrent of stone fruit. The flavor follows through with juicy, low-bitterness hops layered over a full, pillowy body that's characteristic of the style. The malt backbone stays quiet, letting the hops carry the show without turning resinous or harsh. The finish is soft and relatively brief, leaving a gentle fruit sweetness rather than a lingering bite.
About the Brewery
Trillium is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with a flagship taproom in the Fort Point neighborhood and additional locations in the region. Founded around 2013, the brewery became one of the defining voices of the New England IPA movement and consistently draws significant attention in the craft beer community. Their hop-forward ales — particularly their IPAs and double IPAs — command a dedicated following and regularly appear on best-of lists nationally.

The style emerged from Vermont and Massachusetts in the mid-2010s, with breweries like The Alchemist and Trillium helping codify it. Unlike West Coast IPAs, which lean toward resinous bitterness and a drier finish, NEIPAs prioritize a soft, full mouthfeel and juice-forward flavor, typically landing in the 6–8% ABV range.
