Tasting Notes
The aroma bursts with ripe tropical fruit — mango, passionfruit, and a bit of citrus zest — carried by a heavy dry-hop charge that keeps things lively without turning sharp. On the palate it's full and pillowy, with the haze contributing a soft, almost juice-like texture that blunts any hard bitterness. Flavor leans into stone fruit and tangerine, with a mild resinous undercurrent that reminds you there's still a lot of hop material at work. The finish is relatively short and gentle, with just enough bitterness to keep it from feeling flabby.
About the Brewery
WeldWerks is based in Greeley, Colorado, and has built one of the more serious reputations in the Mountain West since opening in 2015. They're particularly known for hazy IPAs and an expansive barrel-aging program that produces sought-after imperial stouts. Juicy Bits became their flagship and something of a benchmark beer for the NEIPA style in Colorado. They operate a single taproom and release limited beers with enough frequency to maintain a loyal following among beer traders nationally.
Food Pairings
Spicy Thai dishes work well here because the soft, fruity hop character cools heat without fighting it. A fish taco with mango salsa echoes the tropical notes already present in the beer. Mild, creamy cheeses like burrata or fresh mozzarella let the hop aroma do the talking without getting overwhelmed. Grilled shrimp with citrus marinade reinforces the tangerine and stone fruit tones in a straightforward, complementary way. Lighter chicken dishes — roasted or grilled, nothing too smoky — sit comfortably against the beer's body without either overpowering the other.
Style Guide
New England IPA, sometimes called hazy IPA or NEIPA, is defined by its intentionally unfiltered, opaque appearance and a soft, low-bitterness hop profile that emphasizes aroma and juicy fruit flavor over the assertive dryness of West Coast IPAs. The style grew out of Vermont and Massachusetts brewing in the early 2010s, with The Alchemist's Heady Topper and Treehouse Brewing drawing wide attention to the format. Brewers achieve the haze and pillowy mouthfeel through specific hop-addition timing, high-protein grain bills, and yeast selection, rather than filtration shortcuts. ABV typically runs in the 6–8% range, though the style reads lighter than those numbers suggest because bitterness is deliberately dialed down.
